Job Description

Job Title: System & Storage Administrator

Our Client: Our client is a prestigious Semiconductor Firm providing various solutions within Sensor Process Technologies. This individual will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of servers. They are looking for a System & Storage Administrator to join their team here in Singapore!

Responsibilities:

* Support daily operations of servers running Linux/Unix heterogeneous systems such as Red Hat Linux OS, HP-UX, and OpenVMS, as well as storage systems including SAN, NAS, and unified storage
* Provide technical support for internal IT departments and customer projects, including generating detailed system configurations for servers and storage, and supporting MidRange servers and storage setups
* Conduct proof of concept studies and evaluate solutions
* Ensure server security through measures like OS hardening to meet IT security compliance standards
* Perform system capacity planning (e.g., CPU, memory, storage) to support business growth
* Ensure critical MidRange systems and SAN storage systems maintain an uptime of over 99%.
* Maintain system backups and restore solutions using Commvault software
* Develop Unix/Linux system administration scripts in C or shell scripting languages for tasks like error log monitoring and notification
* Provide maintenance support, including backups, patch deployment, system performance tuning, and issue troubleshooting
* Perform system migrations, upgrades, and integrations with other systems
* Participate in and support regular Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises by performing MidRange system recovery, identifying and documenting gaps, and ensuring DR documentation is updated regularly
* Manage SAN storage operations and requests for systems like HDS, Dell, and HPE
* Oversee daily operations of data centres and DR data centers

Requirements:

* Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
* RedHat system administration certification is advantageous, as are certifications in other Unix/Linux operating systems
* Minimum of three years of experience supporting UNIX systems
* Experience with production-grade Linux OS administration (e.g., Red Hat, Suse, Debian) is advantageous
* Relevant experience with storage configuration for models from HDS, Dell, and HPE
* Relevant experience configuring interoperability solutions between Unix/Linux and Windows (e.g., SAMBA)
* Experience in the semiconductor industry (IT support) is an advantage
* Proficiency in programming, specifically Perl or Unix shell scripting, is essential
* Knowledge of servers and storage systems from HP, Dell, IBM, etc., and experience with support ticket tracking systems (preferably Lotus Notes) is an advantage
* Strong troubleshooting abilities
* Willingness to work on weekends occasionally
* Participation in an on-call rotation with other team members and availability for off-hours maintenance
* Ability to learn new skills quickly and adopt new technologies
